Rivian Debuts ‘Hey Rivian’ AI Assistant

Rivian has introduced "Hey Rivian," an AI assistant that lets drivers control their electric vehicles through natural language commands, marking the latest escalation in automakers' race to embed conversational AI directly into cars. The move puts Rivian in direct competition with Tesla's voice controls and emerging systems from legacy manufacturers, but the company's approach prioritizes data privacy by processing commands locally rather than sending them to cloud servers. As the EV market intensifies and software becomes a key differentiator, Rivian's bet on an in-vehicle AI could reshape how consumers interact with their vehicles—or stumble if the technology fails to deliver the seamless experience drivers now expect from their phones.
