Linus Torvalds puts his foot down, tells anti-AI programmers to 'fork it'

Linus Torvalds, the notoriously blunt creator of Linux, has abruptly shut down a growing revolt within his developer community over artificial intelligence tools, telling anti-AI programmers dissatisfied with his stance to simply fork the project and leave. The confrontation marks a rare public clash between Torvalds and his open-source base over whether AI-assisted coding represents progress or a threat to human developers, forcing the tech world to reckon with a fundamental question about the future of software development itself. With a creator as influential as Torvalds staking his reputation on embracing AI, other major open-source projects now face pressure to settle their own internal conflicts over the technology.
