Snap's SnapGen++ generates high-resolution AI images on iPhone in under two seconds - the-decoder.com

Snap is racing ahead of Apple and Google with a new on-device AI image generator that produces high-resolution pictures on iPhones in seconds—a technical feat that could reshape how billions of smartphone users create content without relying on cloud servers or paying subscription fees. The move signals an intensifying competition among tech giants to embed powerful generative AI directly into devices, where privacy and speed matter as much as raw capability. If the technology proves reliable at scale, it could fundamentally alter the economics of the AI boom, shifting leverage away from companies that depend on centralizing processing power in expensive data centers.
