Google DeepMind says four AI agents beat Minecraft in 27 hours by writing 2,783 programs of their own — AI team died 605 times on Easy difficulty and ran up an estimated $520 in tokens

Google DeepMind's AI agents have cracked Minecraft's final boss — not through brute computational force, but by teaching themselves to write thousands of novel programs on the fly, a breakthrough that suggests artificial intelligence may be developing genuine problem-solving creativity rather than merely pattern-matching. The feat, accomplished in 27 hours at an estimated cost of $520, reveals both the astonishing potential and the stubborn limitations of current AI: four digital minds needed to die 605 times on Easy difficulty to achieve what a determined human player might accomplish in a weekend. The real milestone isn't beating a video game, but the method — autonomous AI agents learning to code their own solutions — which hints at how machines might eventually tackle
